Most tsunamis occur in the Pacific, but they are known in all other areas of the World Ocean like the Atlantic and the Indian oceans, the Mediterranean and many marginal seas. Slide shows the distribution of tsunamigenic events over the main regions of the World Ocean for the whole historical period (on the left) and for the last century (on the right) where the historical catalog is the most complete.
