The database on active volcanoes consists of two parts: the catalog of historical volcanic eruptions (6 499 volcanic eruptions resulted from 630 volcanoes within the period from 9650 BC till present and the list of active terrestrial (1078 entries) and submarine (465 entries) volcanoes The list of eruptions includes the following basic parameters: full date (year, month, date), coordinates and name of volcano, VEI (Volcanic Explosion Index) determined by the estimated volume of eruptive material. This list was prepared in the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology FED RAS under the joint project with WAPMERR (Vikulin et al, 2009). The list of active volcanoes includes the following basic parameters: REGION - name of the country or region, NAME – volcano name, LAT and LONG - geographical coordinates of the main crater, Tp - type of volcano, Òm – coded period of tsunami activity (A – active in historical times, B – active during Holocene, C – volcanoes with fumarolic activity), AbsH - absolute height of volcano in m, RelH - relative height of volcano in m.
