Social events:
A number of social events for the participants and accompanying persons are planned during the conference. Provisionally, they are
July 13 Monday 7 - 9 pm Icebreaker party in the Dom Uchenykh
(House of Scientists)
July 15 Wednesday 6 – 11 pm Bus trip to downtown of Novosibirsk followed by Conference Dinner at the "Skomorokhi" restaurant.
July 17 Friday 10 am – 6 pm Barbecue on the bank of the Ob river in the summer resort hotel "Bylina".
July 18 Saturday 9 am - 8 pm Sightseeing trip to the SD RAS vibro-seismic test-site "Bystrovka" located on the bank of the Ob river some 70 km south-east of Akademgorodok followed by Russian-style open-air dinner.
Excursions to the Museum of Mineralogy and the Botanic Garden in Akademgorodok and in the downtown of Novosibirsk, including a possible visit to the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet House, will be also provided.
There are no plans for any tsunami-related field trip before or after the conference (that is quite understandable taking into account the geographical location of Novosibirsk), however, the Organizing Committee can assist those participants who will be willing to combine the participation in the conference with some sightseeing tours over this part of the country. The nearest to Novosibirsk tourist attraction is the Altay mountains area that has a beautiful scenery and a lot of recreational facilities.
